Golden Imagination and Gastronomic Delight

The month kicks off with a tour of the multiple award winner, 200 Fifth Avenue (awards include the 2010-11 Pinnacle for Renovated Building), led by Property Manager Herb Gonzalez, 2015 Pinnacle Manager of the Year. 200 Fifth’s renovation by L&L Holding LLC is one of the most spectacular in years—a total repositioning of the historic landmark from a vastly under-used and dated facility, to a LEED Gold corporate headquarters showcase inside and out, with rooftop amenities that have made it a destination for all New Yorkers. Now the global headquarters of advertising powerhouse, Grey, and the legendary jeweler, Tiffany, 200 Fifth has received multiple LEED Gold certifications for the building and the tenant spaces.

Touring 200 Fifth is an experience for the imagination. The journey from sidewalk to roof, and encompasses these highlights: the historically restored entrance that opens into a gleaming new white and silver lobby/atrium; an interior courtyard carved out of a poorly used mechanical space that is now complete with, among other features, hanging gardens that run the full height of the building; and a roof unlike any other office building in New York.--an amenities platform where stunning tenant conferencing facilities are side-by-side with a retractable roof beer garden developed in collaboration with 200 Fifth's retail tenant Eataly, the Italian cuisine emporium  created by renowned chef, Mario Battali. October 6, from 3:30 to 5 pm with a reception following on the roof.

Platinum Innovation for Corporate America

Double-Pinnacle winner (New Construction and Earth, 2010-11) One Bryant Park was much anticipated when news of its pioneering green construction was announced in the last decade. As the northeast anchor of the Bryant Park marketplace, it also served as a major development force for the neighborhood even before the first piece of construction equipment rolled onto the site. It lived up to its billing when it opened in 2010 as North America’s first office tower built to LEED Platinum criteria and has become widely recognized as one of the most environmentally-advanced office buildings in the world.

That accomplishment made it a learning experience for our industry nationwide and the tradition continues today with our Emerging Leaders tour of this standard-setting skyscraper, now the fourth-tallest in New York City. Developed and managed by The Durst Organization, the soaring 2.35 million-sf tower houses Bank of America’s global corporate and investment banking businesses, The Durst Organization’s corporate headquarters and other prestigious tenants. Durst Vice President Ron Jerman will lead a tour of its outstanding green features, including an urban garden room, a 4.6-MW combined heat and power plant, an ice cooling system, a building-wide water reclamation system, green roofs utilizing compost from tenant cafeteria waste, state-of- the-art advanced air filtration and much more. October 13, from 9:30 – 11:00 am

"The Garden" – Behind the Scenes of an Icon

To generations of New Yorkers, "The Garden" is one of the biggest names on the sports and entertainment world stage—a place of milestone memories where the hometown team notched world-class records or broke our hearts with stunning losses. It is where political conventions nominated future presidents, or where we kept the beat all night long as legendary performers gave the concert of a lifetime.

From the Ali-Frazier "Fight of the Century" in 1971 to the record-breaking concerts of Lady Gaga and Billy Joel, Madison Square Garden as it stands today is the fourth busiest concert venue in the world and the home of some of the greatest sports franchises ever. And now our BOMA/NY Emerging Leaders will be able to go behind the scenes with a guided tour of operations and infrastructure, led by Vice President of Building Operations,  Bill Martino. Among the high points will be a look at how the home ice is made and installed for the New York Rangers, and how the management team juggles operational needs and challenges for The Garden’s many days when hockey, basketball and pop stars are all performing simultaneously. October 20, from 9:30-11:00 am
