Dear BOMA New York Members,

This month we've officially kicked off BOMA New York's new mentorship program!

The year-long program is targeted toward members who are newer to property management. It is specifically available to BOMA New York Emerging Leader Members who are under 35 years of age and have five or less years of experience in commercial property management. Each mentee is paired with a mentor that has a minimum of five years experience as a senior property manager.

We sent out information on the program earlier this month, but members interested in learning more about being a mentee or serving as a mentor should email our Director of Membership / Special Events, Ami Shah, at ami@bomany.com.

Our industry contains many seasoned professionals with an invaluable wealth of knowledge. I am thrilled for what they'll share and for how this program will benefit BOMA's newer members.

Although the City Council and the Mayor become focused on the budget again during May, the legislative process does not come to a complete standstill. Indeed, the Council looked to push Intro Number 1133-A (the "A" here means the original bill has been amended), which would prevent building owners in arrears on certain payments to the City greater than $25,000, such as for back taxes or fines, from receiving building-related permits.
