Government Affairs
BOMA responded to two recent articles from the Globe and Mail and Vancouver Courier on commercial property taxes. Specifically, the Courier article blamed triple-net leases for unfairly punishing small businesses. Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Hon. Selena Robinson indicated the province intends to find a long-term solution and that “We want the right people to pay.” Co-signed by the Vancouver Business Improvement Area Partnership, our letters highlighted the province’s "highest and best use" policy as the issue that is resulting in unsustainable increases in property taxes on small businesses. BOMI International has announced the launch of BOMI Education Canada. They are now offering new self-paced online courses. View the new BOMI website here.
