CSAE Association Agenda
CSAE News

2020 has been a tough year, and CSAE appreciates each and every one of our members! That’s why Member November is all about celebrating our talented, tenacious and terrific association community! We want to #sharethelove, with special features and benefits that our members can find out about here. AND, this week, we want to have a little fun and raise each other up. Let’s #sharethelove!

Here’s how to participate:

  1. Find a gif that best represents how you feel about 2020
  2. Share the gif on your social media (Twitter or LinkedIn) and tag CSAE. Use hashtags #sharethelove and #membernovember
  3. Tag an association professional you know who could benefit from CSAE membership!

Here’s the best part! The association professional you tag gets entered for a chance to win a CSAE membership courtesy of our corporate partners. And if you are a CSAE member, you will be entered into a chance to win one of three $100 VISA gift cards. Enter by this Sunday, November 22, 2010 at 11:59 PM EST.

Save the date for the first CSAE virtual Symposium for Chief Staff and Chief Elected Officers scheduled for February 22-23, 2021! This two-day workshop, delivered by Tecker International, helps association leaders develop a productive working relationship with their new board chairs by setting priorities for your organization and establish some common ground for joint leadership. Many association leaders make this an annual commitment – join us and find out why for yourself. Same great content, new convenient virtual delivery!
These informal chats are a chance for CSAE members to connect with colleagues from across the country and discuss the topics on our minds. Hosted by CSAE’s President & CEO Tracy Folkes Hanson, this online forum uses video conferencing to enable us to have a face-to-face conversation in real time. Let’s lean on each other and stay connected in this ever-changing environment! Click here to take part.

Member Spotlight
CSAE Member since 1986
My first boss, Julian Huffer, encouraged me to join the “Institute of Association Executives” as it was then known, to build my personal network and gain volunteer experience. Little did I know that this would eventually lead me to founding my own association management company… but here we are 36 years later, still having fun.

Running three associations and a small business entails lots of meetings so you have to make it a priority to reserve the dates of CSAE events and try to get to them whenever you can. Being open to meeting new members is something I try to do given how I remember Donna Mary Shaw welcoming me to the very first meeting I attended and how she always sought me out at events to check-in. If I can give back one tenth of the support, advice, and encouragement I got from her, and others, then I’m doing a good job.

This year may almost be over, but learning and development are continuous! Enhance your association leadership skills and advance your career in 2021 with the Certified Association Executive® (CAE®) Program. The winter intake is now open for registration.

CAE’s 2020 graduating class Valedictorian, Michael Grant, shares his experience in the program:

“What struck me most during my [CAE] journey was the support of this community. Every time I reached out to my network ... I was always so pleasantly surprise by the positivity, encouragement and willingness to help I was met by. It reassured me that I was in the right place. That this is a community I want to be part of. A community I am proud to stand with."
