CCBO Announces 2014 Award Winners

CCBO is pleased to announce the 2014 Award winners! Award winners in five different categories were recognized at the closing Awards Banquet at the 32nd Annual International Conference in San Antonio, TX.
 
The Outstanding Chief Business Officer Award winners are:
  • Mary Alice Grobins, vice president for administrative services at Skagit Valley Community College. 
  • Blaine Hatch, vice president for administrative services at Northland Pioneer College.
  • Sonny Sparks, vice president for finance at Holmes Community College.
The Outstanding Chief Business Officer Award honors those chief business officers with distinguished service to their institution and community. Award winners are nominated and chosen by their peers.

The Outstanding Business Officer Award winners are:
  • Shelly Ford, comptroller at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
  • Robert W. Hearn, Jr., director of business services at Delaware Technical Community College.
  • Suzette S. Senn, director of cash management/systems at Midlands Technical College.
  • Mike Whiteman, controller at Central Piedmont Community College.
The Outstanding Business Officer Award honors those business officers with distinguished service to their institution and community. Award winners are nominated and chosen by their peers.

The Darrell E. Roberts Emerging Professional Award winner is:
  • Connie L. Stewart, director of human resources at Montcalm Community College.
The Darrell E. Roberts Emerging Professional Award is designed to encourage professional involvement in the CCBO Leadership Academy, by recognizing a future leader who possesses high potential to advance in leadership roles and responsibility in the fields of higher education business, finance, and administration. The purpose of this award is to stimulate growth, provide professional support, and offer networking opportunities.

The Exemplary Practice Award winners are:
  • Dr. Ron Rhames, senior vice president and chief operating officer at Midlands Technical College.
  • Quincy Foil, associate vice president, services corporation, resource development & sponsorship at Central Piedmont Community College.
The Exemplary Practices Award recognizes outstanding, innovative, or collaborative practices in areas such as Human Resources, Finance, Technology, Facilities, and other services at community colleges.

The Jim Turner Leadership Academy Outstanding Presentation Award winner is:
  • K. Paige Childs, vice president of business and finance at Piedmont Technical College.
The Jim Turner Leadership Academy Outstanding Presentation Award recognizes the Leadership Academy graduate whose final presentation is voted the best by their Academy peers. Previously awarded by the Academy faculty based on overall performance, the criteria were revised in 2014 to focus on the second year presentation.
