Charlottesville, VA (October 16, 2018) – CCBO, the premier community college association serving current and future business officers, is pleased to announce five community college professionals have graduated from the CCBO Leadership Academy.

The Academy provides an opportunity for current and aspiring community college business officers to educate themselves on the various intricacies of Chief Business Officer leadership. The Academy’s goal is to provide participants with the knowledge of the theories and practice of leadership within a community college as an institution of higher education. The Academy is designed to train the next generation of Chief Business Officers and to provide current leaders with updated information on national issues facing community colleges.

Featuring nearly 35 hours of programming in topics such as leadership skills, budgeting, working with Presidents and Boards of Trustees, and other key topics at the executive level role at a community college, it also includes participation in the CCBO Annual Conference following the Academy. It’s a year-long program that begins at one conference and concludes at the following year’s conference, culminating in a mid-year project presented at the second year Academy.

Led this year by Dean Brad McCormick and Assistant Dean K. Paige Childs, the first and second year Leadership Academy participants spent an intensive two days prior to the start of the CCBO Annual Conference learning leadership skills, getting to know one another, and developing the tools needed for success at the Chief Business Officer level.

The 2018 Leadership Academy graduates are:
●      Amber Hill, Controller, Northland Pioneer College
●      Jody Travis, Budget Development Officer, Central Arizona College
●      Bridget Miller, Associate Director of Accounting Services, Heartland Community College
●      Chad DeBono, Vice President of Administrative Services/Institutional Effectiveness, Lamar Community College
●      Marsha Peters, College Financial Manager, Dallas County Community College District
