The CCGA Breathes Life into DigSafe
On Tuesday, April 21, the CCGA launched what it hopes will be the first of several DigSafe animations that breathe life into the DigSafe character.
Bringing DigSafe to life was the brainchild of Sean Sullivan who, until very recently, was the communications advisor for the Alberta Common Ground Alliance, executive director of the Calgary Regional Utility Damage Prevention Council and editor of the CCGA's Newsletter - Know What's Below. After pitching the idea to Mike Sullivan, they approached Mike's daughter, Jane, who was in the midst of securing a degree in 2D Animation. A few discussions later, and approximately 100 hours of creative work, DigSafe 1 was completed.
"We hope to produce several of these animations," says Mike Sullivan, "but that will depend on whether or not the CCGA can sell enough licenses to pay for production of future animations. And it's not just the animation work. There's also the music that accompanies the animation. The jingle is an original score from Mr. Marc Lamontagne, a Calgary musician. We wanted the animation to have a visual and auditory identity and we think we achieved that."
"They're perfect for today's mediums", says Jennifer Parent, manager growth, councils and membership services with the ORCGA. "At 15 seconds long, they hold your attention, entertain and most importantly help remind you how important it is to Click Before You Dig and DigSafe. The animation is sure to generate likes and shares on social media platforms.”
Purchasing an annual DigSafe animation license includes your company's logo at the end of the animation and will enable the CCGA to continue funding development of these unique education and awareness tools.
