The British Columbia Construction Association (BCCA) will soon offer a skilled trades program known as Building Builders to help reduce skilled workforce shortages and help train Canadians in the industry.

The program will connect under- and unemployed workers, labourers, and unregistered apprentices with established credentialed tradespeople, executives, and industry leaders who have been working in the province’s construction industry for a minimum of 10 years. These mentorships will provide career guidance for workers and a talent acquisition opportunity for employers who are seeking new workers during the ongoing labour shortage.

New Brunswick's unemployment rate is declining, and available jobs have decreased this month, while some sectors continue to look for workers.

According to Statistics Canada data released Friday, the province's unemployment rate has decreased by 1.8 per cent from May of last year to May 2022.

The province's unemployment rate of 7.1 per cent this May was the second-lowest it's been since 2001. The absolute lowest unemployment rate in that period was seven per cent in April.

The damage prevention community is close-knit and regardless of where we live or work, we are all working toward the same goal – improving public, worker and community safety. We routinely communicate across cities, provinces, countries and continents and the odd time we see one another, it’s a reunion and a chance to celebrate. The bond that we share, and our desire to make things better, can migrate beyond the job when the opportunity strikes.

A few weeks ago, the NHL’s Battle of Alberta was destined to eliminate the Calgary Flames or the Edmonton Oilers from Stanley Cup playoff contention. With superstars like Connor McDavid or Johnny Gaudreau, either team had a very good chance of moving onto the finals. When the Oilers emerged victorious, the province of Alberta got behind their team as they prepared to face the Colorado Avalanche – another great hockey city that experienced championships with the likes of Joe Sakic and Patrick Roy. Hopes were high for an entertaining series – and we decided to make it a little more fun.
