Ontario – Ontario Power Generation Dam Safety Reporting
While Ontario’s Lakes and Rivers Improvement Act does not include a regulatory requirement for either dam safety or dam safety reporting, many dam owners are employing such reporting at part of their broader public and stakeholder engagement activities. Ontario Power Generation (OPG) recently provided a public update on dam safety at its Little Long Dam facility on the Mattagami River. The information is available here.
British Columbia – June 2022 Auditor General Report (Mining)
On June 21, 2022 the Office of the Auditor General of British Columbia released its Oversight of Major Mines: Policies and Procedures to Address Environmental Risks report, to report on progress by the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation by the Auditor General’s initial 2016 report.
