Technical tour of the Choinière Dam, Quebec

CDA invites you to a technical tour of the Choinière Dam and its secondary dike, located in the Yamaska National Park.
This structure, owned by the Direction Générale des barrages (DGB) within the Ministère de l’environnement, de la lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la faune et des parcs (MELCCFP), is a large embankment dam equipped with a concrete spillway and an underground drainage conduit.
The tour will take the form of an inspection and will be preceded by presentations in the local service center near the dam, providing further insights about the dam. This event will allow participants to :
- Develop an understanding of the challenges and issues to which a structure of this scale is subject during its operation;
- Become familiar with good practices in the operation, maintenance and monitoring of structures;
Show the particularities related to the maintenance of a structure of this scale, especially with regard to the underground evacuation pipe; - Become familiar with Quebec legislation and regulations relating to dams, in the applied context of the Choinière dam.
