The Canadian Dam Association has been awarded the right to host the 2019 Annual Meeting of the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD). Canada’s bid was accepted June 15, 2014 at the ICOLD General Assembly in Stavanger, Norway.
"We’re excited about bringing this important event to Canada in 2019," says CDA President Gilles Bourgeois. "We believe it will be a great boost to those of us in the Canadian dam industry to have direct exposure to the best the world has to offer.
"This is also an opportunity for Canadian dam professionals and companies to demonstrate their expertise to the international marketplace."
Canada last hosted an ICOLD event in 2003, a triennial Congress in Montréal.
The 2019 Meeting will be held in Ottawa, probably in June, and CDA appreciates Ottawa Tourism’s support of the Canadian bid. Pre- and post-meeting tours will be held are expected to be held across the country.
