The Mining Dams Committee has prepared three documents for review by the membership:
  1. Task Group Report – Significant CDA Issues Emerging from the Mount Polley Panel Report – this report was developed by the CDA’s Mount Polley Task Group that was composed of members from the Mining Dams Committee and Dam Safety Committee.  The report addresses issues that were identified in the Report on the Mount Polley Tailings Storage Facility Breach that was issued by an independent panel in January 2015.
  2. Dam Safety Engineer of Record Description – Replace CDA Section 3.1.2 – this is an update to the Engineer of Record description that was included in the 2014 Technical Bulletin – Application of Dam Safety Guidelines to Mining Dams based on discussions with CDA members and others in the dam safety industry.
  3. CDA – Revised Geotechnical Criteria – this is an update to Section 3.5.4 of the 2014 Mining Dams Technical Bulletin related to the factor of safety guidance.  This was also developed in consultation with CDA members and others in the dam safety industry.
These documents are in the Reference Files on the Mining Dams Committee technical page, members-only access.  We welcome comments on them before we post revised versions on the general CDA Website.   We would request that comments be provided before the end of January 2016. Comments can be sent to miningdams@cda.ca.
