The Canadian Dam Association offers two scholarships annually to full-time postgraduate students attending a Canadian university or college whose program of study focuses on dam safety and/or the management of dams. The Gary Salmon Memorial Scholarship was established in 2009 in honour of the late Gary Salmon, P. Eng. The top-ranked applicant receives $5,000 and the runner-up receives the CDA Research Scholarship in the amount of $2,500.
The scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis of academic excellence and the relevance of the research project to the stated objective, as well as leadership and community involvement.
Application forms and details of required supporting documents are available from the CDA website. In addition to the application form, applicants are required to submit:
•A 500-word synopsis of the proposed research project;
•Official courses transcripts;
•A statement from the program chairman/director endorsing the applications; and
•Two letters of references.
Applications are due May 15, 2016.
