ICOLD issues World Declaration on Dam Safety

After a year of consultation, on October 18, 2019 in Porto, Portugal, the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD) issued a World Declaration on Dam Safety. The Declaration, one of only a handful issued by ICOLD in its 90-year history, urges all involved professionals and companies to make commitments to safety improvements and risk reductions at all dams.
The Declaration also calls upon governments, financial institutions and other developers, in their contribution to the development and regulation of dam infrastructure, to make similar political and financial commitments so that safety recommendations for dam are disseminated and followed to completion.
