Canadian Dam Association hires Technical Coordinator
The Canadian Dam Association is pleased to announce that Clare Raska, P.Eng has been retained to act as a part-time Technical Coordinator to further advance the work of its committees and their initiatives.
Ms. Raska will begin supporting CDA initiatives aimed at producing two new Technical Bulletins on Dam Safety Reviews and Emergency Management. As well, she will be providing general technical assistance to CDA’s Dam Safety and International committees.
"CDA is pleased to take this next step in our mission of being a recognized leader in advancing knowledge and practices related to dams by engaging, involving and serving the Canadian dam community," CDA President Gilles Bourgeois says. "We’re excited to bring on board someone with Clare’s experience in the industry and knowledge about how CDA and its committees work."
Clare is a long-time member of CDA and played a critical role in the production of the 1995, 1999, 2007 and 2013 editions of CDA’s Dam Safety Guidelines. She served on CDA’s Board of Directors in the mid-2000s and as President from 2011 to 2014, but no longer sits on the Board.
The CDA Board identified enhanced technical coordination as the next step in moving forward at its meeting in April 2014. A task group held a well-advertised, nation-wide search and received a number of proposals. CDA will continue to identify strategic initiatives in the technical aspects of dams, and provide support for volunteer committees to move those initiatives forward as financial resources permit.
