ICOLD 2019 will offer a unique learning opportunity for Young Professionals (YPs) from around the world who are in the early stages of their careers. As well as specific events and initiatives targeted at these delegates, the ICOLD 2019 event integrates YPs (age 35 and under) into all aspects of the program.
Young Professionals are encouraged to attend all events at ICOLD 2019. Attendance at the ICOLD Technical Committee meetings and workshops, and Symposium will provide a unique opportunity to engage with technical subject matter experts from around the world and participate in the development of leading practices.
Leaders in the dam industry should encourage and support their YPs to attend ICOLD 2019 in Ottawa.
Why should YPs attend?
Companies and ICOLD National Committees will benefit by having YPs attend this international event, where they can establish contacts with technical leaders and organizations at the forefront of dam engineering. In addition, a number of YP-only events and sessions are available including the ICOLD Young Engineers Forum with keynote speaker Boris Martin from Engineers Without Borders, a YP social event and mentorship opportunities.
How do I get my employer to support my participation?
In order to support the participation of Young Professionals in the Annual Meeting / Symposium, a template letter which includes ICOLD’s mission, a summary of the benefits of attending and a table the listing the associated costs has been developed for YPs to use. Please download the template from the ICOLD website.
How much does it cost to attend?
The YP/student rate is $895 CDN until April 7. After April 7, the price goes up to $995 CDN – a savings of almost $700 CDN off the full delegate rate!
