CDA participated in the virtual ICOLD Symposium on Sustainable Development of Dams and River Basins held in New Delhi, India on February 24th to 27th. The event was postponed from 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and converted to a virtual event. This was the CDA's first participation in a virtual tradeshow booth.
CDA and six Canadian companies had virtual booths in the exhibition space (3vGeomatics, Klohn Crippen Berger, Measurand, Meco Engineers, Niricson Software and RST Instruments) and many other Canadian companies had delegates and Young Professionals in attendance (Hatch, OPG, Hydro-Québec). Canadians Mohan Acharya (Alberta Environment and Parks) and Rick Donnelly (Hatch) presented papers at the event, Dr. Harvey McLeod (Klohn Crippen Berger) was chairman and keynote speaker at the session on “Engineering Challenges and Safety Aspects of Tailing Dams” and, with Andy Small (Klohn Crippen Berger), contributed to delivering a Workshop on Tailings Dam Safety.
