The Canadian Dam Association (CDA) welcomes the report of the independent expert engineering investigation and review panel into the failure of the tailings storage facility at the Mount Polley Mine in British Columbia on Aug. 4, 2014, and supports the BC government’s response.

The Canadian Dam Association is pleased to announce that Clare Raska, P.Eng has been retained to act as a part-time Technical Coordinator to further advance the work of its committees and their initiatives.

CDA is holding a workshop on emergency management for dams Feb. 24-25, 2015 in Ottawa. The workshop will identify the existing resources for emergency preparedness and management that might be applicable to dams; discuss how communities prepare for and respond to emergencies and how dam managers might work with them; and consider what the dam community needs for the future.

The 2015 Conference committee is still accepting abstracts for papers to be presented at the CDA 2015 Conference Oct 5-7, 2015.
