CSA STANDARDS

The Standards are progressing nicely, the new standard Z314.00 Medical Device Reprocessing – General Guidelines is complete and ready for purchase as of March 20, 2013. This new standard covers all over arching concepts such as Quality System, Personnel, Manufacturer’s Instructions, Design, General Principles, Occupational Health and Safety, Infection Prevention and Control, Water Quality, Cleaning MDRD, Spaulding’s Classifications, Recalls and Verification. This standard is required to use with all other reprocessing standards.

Z314.8 Decontamination is in the final stages and will be available for public review March 25, 2013. Please watch as the link will be posted on the CSAO website for you to preview and comment on the public review draft. This will be the first standard to use in conjunction with the Z314.0 document. All items covered in standard Z314.0 will not appear in Z314.8 unless it is specific to this standard.

Review of the Z314.3 Steam Sterilization has begun by the committee the goal for completion and publication is projected for mid 2014.
