Meeting Minutes

1.0 Welcome:

Louis Konstant, ETA Chapter President, welcomed all members and thanked them for attending the evening ETA Chapter at Olympus Canada. Louis also acknowledged Christopher Stout (Nurse Educator/Consultant) and Sandy Saioud (Director Clinical Support) of Olympus Canada and their team for hosting our Chapter meeting and for sponsoring the snacks.

2.0 Presentation:

Sandy welcomed the ETA Chapter group and outlined the agenda for the evening.

Christopher talked about quality management of flexible endoscopes. His presentation outlined importance of following established, recommended procedures when handling and reprocessing flexible endoscopes. Christopher reviewed common repairs that flexible scopes undergo and their causes. He reviewed proper handling, transporting and storage. Leak testing, cleaning, disinfection and drying were also reviewed. He also talked about repairs and importance of using manufacturers' parts (not third party) to ensure quality and so that validated processes can be maintained.

The group was split into two and concurrent tours were then conducted, with each group attending each of the two toured areas.

The first area toured was the repair facility that conducts flexible scope repairs for the country. It is extremely well organized, spacious, clean and up to industry standards. The high quality process the flexible scopes undergo at the facility, from receipt, documentation, work order creation, cleaning and repairing was reviewed. The parts department was also visited.

The second tour involved showing the new flexible scope reprocessor (OER Pro) that Olympus Canada now has available in the health care field. Cycle parameters and quality assurance were reviewed with this new unit. Many questions were posed and answered.

3.0 ETA Chapter and Annual Conference Update:

This was the fourth and final meeting for the ETA Chapter this membership year. Earlier meetings and venues were reviewed.

The annual conference dates were discussed (September 8–10, 2013), highlighting the inclusion of workshops on Sunday this year.

The CSAO website has been updated to now include online registration for this year's conference.

4.0 50/50 and Conference Registration Draw:

Winner of tonight's 50/50 draw was Kevin Wan ($17.00)

Cheryl Fedosenko and Lori Dal Bello were both winners of September 8-10, 2013 paid Conference Registration.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 pm.
