1.0 Welcome:
Louis Konstant, ETA Chapter President, welcomed all members and guests and thanked them for attending the evening ETA Chapter meeting at UHN. Louis also acknowledged Gary Reimer and Pat Hennesey from SciCan and their team for supporting our Chapter meeting and for sponsoring the snacks. Louis outlined the agenda for the evening.
2.0 Presentation:
Pat opened by talking about SciCan and also about quality management of flexible endoscope reprocessing. His presentation outlined importance of following established, recommended procedures when handling and reprocessing flexible endoscopes. Pat reviewed the various options and history behind SciCan and their Automated Endoscope Reprocessors and their evolution to their latest model.
The group then toured the UHN SPD endoscopy reprocessing area. It is extremely well organized, spacious, clean and up to industry standards. It employs a pass thru system. The high quality process the flexible scopes undergo at the facility, from receipt, documentation, work flow creation, cleaning and repairing was reviewed. The Innova CMS was shown in operation and details of process steps in place reviewed. There are seven units installed and the capacity is quite large with four scopes able to be processed in one unit per cycle. The SciCan technician, Ricardo was there to explain the technical workings of the system including quick connects, scanning and reporting. There are many quality features in place to prevent errors in reprocessing that historically were at risk of occurring.
3.0 CSAO ETA Chapter Updates:
This was the third meeting for the ETA Chapter this membership year. Next meeting will be on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Miele Headquarters. More details to follow via email.
Reminder of the election year details and deadlines were reviewed.
The group was informed about a three-year strategic plan the Provincial Executive would soon share with the members. This plan would address CSAO as continuing to be an important voice and educational resource in the ever changing environment. Member value and engagement was discussed.
The annual conference dates were discussed (September 7-9, 2014), highlighting the inclusion of workshops on Sunday once again this year.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
Another meeting also took place on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Miele Limited Headquarters state of the art facility in Vaughan.
The vendor provided a great introduction and background of their company and offered breakfast to the group.
We were able to tour the facility and see the vendor's reprocessing equipment options as well as receive a history and discussion of the services that they can provide.
The turnout for the Saturday morning event was great and Miele proved to be a wonderful host. Thanks to Paula, Andreas and team for their hospitality.
