I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and enjoyed some time off to rest. Wishing all involved in Medical Device Reprocessing and their loved ones a Happy New Year in 2015!

This past year saw many exciting initiatives come to pass both in our association and profession. Our association will soon have a new, third edition of the textbook, The Manual for Reprocessing Medical Devices available early 2015. The format of the manual will be much improved with design and layout changes and new chapters being added. There is an overwhelming interest for this new text across the country and the CSA has endorsed the manual as reference for CSA MDR certification.

This year also saw a national conference being held in Winnipeg in October. It was truly an inspiring event with so many MDR front line staff, management, infection control personnel and vendors participating with the common initiative of improved patient care outcomes. This biannual event will next take place in Toronto in 2016.

Our 2014 CSAO conference was one of the best in recent memory. Planning is already underway for our 2015 CSAO Conference. We are looking at attracting more delegates, more vendors and make the three-day experience both educational and inspirational. In moving forward, we have decided to hold biannual conferences on alternate years of the national.

A reminder to all that this will be a year for proposing any constitutional changes at our annual meeting in May, which will be held on OTN.

Finally, we are partnering with vendors at all levels and we thank them for their educational and financial support of our association and profession.

Spread the word to any new MDR staff that CSAO is their provincial professional association and our local chapters support education and networking opportunities.
