Greetings to all CSAO members. The fall season is upon us once again and our hospitals,
clinics and workplaces are busier after
summer break. Another CSAO conference has come and gone, September 13-15, 2015, and what a conference it was. This year we had about 30 more delegates than last year. We had seven more exhibit booths than last year. We moved our conference upstairs to a larger venue as we push to grow our association to greater heights. We had magnificent speakers once again, and our Keynote Speaker Pinball Clemons kick-started our event and energized us all. I will never forget the energy in the room that morning as he inspired and reminded us all about what success is in our life and profession. Our surgeon speaker Dr. Koyle gave us interesting physician perspective and reminded us all that Partnering for Success is a never-ending process as we improve our patient care relationships with nurses, physicians and clinical practitioners. Special thanks to the vendors for their ongoing support in our education, Chapter
activities and annual conference.
October 11-17 marks MDR week, and this is a great chance to recruit new association members in our field, create awareness about our roles in Infection Control, and lead by example in promoting and implementing best practices in our profession. We are in the process of transitioning to be known as MDRAO and are rebranding our association. Our new textbook edition is making its way into MDR teaching institutes across the country.
This upcoming year is an election year. To those that will continue to be involved in
chapter and provincial executive, continue in your path. To those that are thinking about getting involved, take that step as new ideas and leaders will shape our future. To those who are on their way out of roles this last year, thanks for your leadership and continue to mentor. 2016 will mark the first time since our initial conference 46 years ago that we will not host an annual conference. We are looking forward to meeting once again in 2017. Until then, continue the great work in your facilities and chapters as we all strive to achieve and Raise the Bar in MDR!
