Lambda Chapter Report

Happy Spring, everyone!
The Lambda Chapter has been very busy since our last meeting in February. Interest in serving on the executive team has declined, and our current executive has rallied — with the support of the membership — to recruit some new faces for the upcoming elections. Positions open are chapter president, chapter vice president, chapter rep for education and development, secretary/treasurer and Lambda Chapter board representative.
Theta Chapter made a suggestion to the Provincial Board that they would be willing to amalgamate with Lambda Chapter given the smaller membership numbers in Lambda. This was presented at the OTN meeting for Lambda Chapter on Feb 6, 2018, and the message from members was clear: They did not want to amalgamate.
Information was shared about the online re-certification course that members are now taking, as well as the upcoming certification course that will soon be ready. Many of our smaller hospitals are waiting for this to help reduce travel time and costs for their staff.
A treasurer’s report was provided indicating a present balance for Lambda of $8,704.83. Discussion ensued about the potential of sending one or two members to CAMDAR in Halifax this fall to explore more about the National CSA Exam and to broaden our contacts across the country. This would be considered for members who are actively involved in the Lambda Chapter.
The Lambda Chapter will meet again in early April and the Annual General Meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 24, 2018, at 1700 hours. An OTN session will be set for this, and information will be provided to all of our sites.
Lambda’s Chapter Executive would like to thank everyone for their continued support. I encourage our members to continue reading the MDRAO newsletter online for ongoing information and articles related to our ever-changing profession. The next newsletter release is scheduled for April 13.
