Lambda Chapter Annual Report 2013/14- Luanne Sutherland ---President
Membership Activity-There are currently 29 members in the Lambda Chapter. This includes3Managers,3 associates and 23 technicians.
All members are encouraged to view their newsletter online, and to visit our website regularly to keep up on what other chapters are doing and to read any of the interesting articles that are archived on the website.
Annual Conference September 2013—Attended by six members of Lambda chapter, and it was a positive experience for everyone. One of the highlights was meeting Dr. Bookwalter who opened the morning of our second day!The presentations were excellent and it was positive to have a contingency from the North present. The hands on for endoscopes and Laproscopic equipment on the Sunday afternoon was a highlight for everyone.
This year Lambda hosted three meetings through OTN with presentations at two of the meetings.
November 21, 2013—This meeting was a follow-up from the AGM. Anne Punpur and Joe Graham presented their bird’s eye view of their 1st experience to the Annual meeting in Toronto. Direction to increase membership and interest in our chapter is the main focus this year.
March 5, 2014—We discussed at length the Strategic Plan that was released by email to all members in February. Discussion took place on the concept for a name change for our Association. Members voiced their need for education and recognized value for what they do as important wants for them. Lambda chapter will focus this spring on having a membership drive to increase our number of members involved in our chapter.
April, 22, 2014—Meeting held and presentation of MDRD Challenges from Lorna Coutoulas was presented. Names were drawn for attendance at the 2014 AGM. The lucky attendees will be...Hope Papineau, Ellen Rattai, Chris Sherlock, Anne Punpur. Our chapter will cover registration, hotel meals and flight costs up to a maximum of $1,0000 (includes conference fees).Treasurer’s report was presented by Bonnie Cordeiro.
Re-certifications—There were nine members who successfully completed their recertifications this year.
Theta Classroom OTN—course was held May 7-10 in Thunder Bay at the TBRHSC. It was attended by 14 students who were all successful in passing the exam.
The 2014/15 course will be held May 6-9 by OTN. Sites involved will be Timmins, Thunder Bay, Sudbury, Saul Ste. Marie, Orillia/Barrie.
June,20, 2014—Resignation of Luanne Sutherland from Lambda Chapter President, and Provincial Executive Board position as Communication’s Director. Lambda Chapter VP, Joe Graham will step in and complete the 2014/16 termas Chapter President. Lambda member Chris Sherlock was appointed as VP for Lambda Chapter, and has been appointed as Board Chapter Representative for Lambda.
