Vice Presidents Report
I hope everyone is enjoying the spring weather that is finally upon us.
The CSAO Executive group has been working hard over the winter on many fronts from conference planning, editing the new text book edition soon to be published, education and advocating for all members.
The Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015, and will be attended by OTN. This is the first time in recent history that the meeting will not be held during the annual conference in September. The reason is to allow current year members to attend before the end of membership year on May 31. The meeting will present Constitutional changes brought forward by members and they will be circulated for all to review ahead of time. Logistics of voting and meeting details to allow OTN setup at your hospitals will be circulated.
This year’s conference is shaping up to be one of the best yet. The theme is "Partnering for Success: Raising the Bar in MDR." Our keynote speaker is a well-known athlete in Canada and Ambassador for the 2015 Pan American Games, Michael "Pinball" Clemons. He is a very inspirational speaker who will no doubt motivate us all with talk on teamwork and partnerships. Other presenters will discuss MDR partnerships involved with CSA, surgical instrument vendors, surgeon instrument set standardization and ERCP Duodenoscope reprocessing to name a few of the exciting topics to be covered.
The planning for the annual CSAO magazine is underway. We hope you find the articles and content useful and informative. Your ideas are welcome. We have also started to develop the conference App that was so well used and liked last year.
I am proud to be representing the CSAO in a working group that is reviewing the Accreditation Canada Sterilization and Reprocessing Standards. As well, I will be speaking in April at the Ambulatory Endoscopy Clinic Day, to discuss certification requirements and to promote CSAO education for staff that reprocess flexible scopes and accessories in Clinics. This is an opportunity to provide the required education and partner with this group.
Sincerely,
Louis Konstant
