Hello everyone,

It’s that time already! I can’t believe it’s been 3 months already since the last report. We have been busy here at MDRAO, planning our next big provincial conference and working with the community on several initiatives.

We have secured a hotel for our next provincial conference that will be held in September of 2023 the weekend of the 22nd, 23rd and 24th. I encourage you to save the date. More details to come soon 😉

We are also working hard with the Theta chapter who is organizing a conference in North Bay the weekend of April 28th to 30th. Special thanks to Ryan Acayan, MDRAO’s Executive Director, for helping Monique Marshall and her team getting ready for that big weekend. MDRAO’s provincial board will hold it’s next in person meeting in North Bay on the weekend of the conference so that we can encourage Theta chapter by attending the conference and meet the members. We are hoping to see you in large numbers!

We are currently working with the Region of Waterloo to help newcomers to Canada that have previous healthcare experience but may not be able to get credentialed here, find viable career option. One of these options is becoming a MDRT of course. This will hopefully help us become more proactive and advocate for our profession as well as fill a gap in MDRT’s in that region. Lisa Anstey is our contact person for this initiative, she is working with the Manager of Employment and Income Support for the Region of Waterloo and Community Engagement t for Immigration Services as well as other organizations. It was a lot of work, but we are finally getting our first students registered.

For French speaking MDRT’s, here is the good news. We finally finished translating and uploading the French MDRAO recertification exam. It should be ready for you to take within the next couple of weeks. Our next step is the translation of the online course. We do not have a start date for that yet.

We have many other projects on the go, far too many for me to mention here. As you can see, we are doing well and are very busy. I encourage all of you to participate actively in your chapter’s activities. Also, we are always looking for people to join the chapters and provincial boards, joining the board comes with many opportunities that you will love for sure.

Until next time,

Take care!
