Fellow MDRAO members and guests.
It has been a very interesting ride this year and into the fall. Just when we thought that Covid was on the decline enough for us to hold our AGM (Annual General Meeting), Covid reared its ugly head with a vengeance and we are now back to square one. We are exploring other options to be able to present the AGM to you, it just may be by email or a Zoom type format. Please stay tuned.

Hello MDRAO Members
 Chapter Development is an ongoing effort to encourage MDRD professionals to become members of a professional association. MDRAO has been promoting the MDR Technician profession for over 50 years. From the beginning of these turbulent times of the Covid-19 pandemic, MDR technicians have been on the front lines prepared to ply our trade as needed in a moment's notice.

Since the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have worked together to support each other in several new ways. This has required adapting to change quickly and sometimes thinking “out of the box.” In the spirit of renewal and change, I am pleased to share this idea from the Sigma Chapter.

Sigma Chapter Report

Greetings to all MDRAO members,

My name is Stacey Marshall, and I am the new president-elect for the Sigma Chapter of MDRAO. Currently to date, Sigma has a total of 38 members. With the new board members, we have plans to work together and bring more new members to Sigma. We have our first virtual educational meeting coming up on October 15th. We are excited to introduce ourselves as well as deliver news on plans for Sigma’s coming year. Two guest speakers will be joining us as well. Lance Othmer for Surgical Products Specialties and Steve Mortier from Trudell Health. Covid-19 has put a lot of restrictions on large group gatherings, that’s why your new team is ready to bring online education and meetings right to you in the comfort and convenience of your own home so you will continue to receive the benefits of your memberships. I look forward to leading Sigma through these unpredictable times. Together we will learn and grow as well as expand on knowledge and expertise within our MDR departments.

Phase3a is one of the largest and most complex infrastructure projects that Mt Sinai has undertaken. It involves renovating the hospital while we continue to provide services and work inside it. MDRD is a part of this project, our MDRD was in dire need of an upgrade.
 
We moved away from a system where we used paper checklists for our instrument sets and used no computers in our department to a fully technology advanced department.
