Greetings MDRAO members,
Another summer is already over, and we are getting ready to get back to work here at MDRAO. We have a few projects lined up as usual.
First, I want to say I am excited to be your resident and look forward to working with the board of directors, chapter executives and every member, to grow our association.
Also, the provincial board would like to thank everyone who attended out last conference in April 2022. What a success this was again. We were not sure that the conference would happen live when we started planning it because we were still dealing with Covid-19 precautions. We decided to take a chance and move forward with planning a live conference, and we were well rewarded with a great success.
We want to thank all the vendors that participated at the conference as well as our main sponsors, Steris, 3M and ASP. Without you, we could not have done it!
I personally had a lot of fun and learned a lot, as usual. Speaking of conference, another exiting conference is coming up in October 2022: the CAMDR conference, which will be held in Laval QC October 13th to 16th. The MDRAO board of directors will be attending this conference. We like to encourage other associations that strive to make the medical device reprocessing profession known and improve the working conditions of this wonderful profession. We hope to see some of you there. We will have a booth at the vendors display; come and see us in large numbers!
We are still working hard on the translation of the MDRAO online course and recertification exam. We are hoping to have this done shortly. We are also working hard at developing all the MDRAO chapters by bringing in new members. Therefore, we will be holding our next board meeting in North Bay. We are hoping to be able to meet MDRD technicians in that area and hopefully mingle with then at a social event.
October 9th to 15th is MDR week. Please take some time to celebrate the awesome profession you have chosen. Every day you work tirelessly to ensure the patients we serve have clean and sterile instruments on time for their surgery. You are essential to the good functioning of every hospital!
Happy Thanksgiving,
Nathalie Legault, RN, BScN, CMDRT
President MDRAO
