Chapter Reports

The Delta Chapter was thrilled to host our much-anticipated Education Day in March 2024 at White Oaks in Niagara Falls, marking our first in-person event since the pandemic. We were pleased to welcome over 91 attendees, making this event a resounding success. The day was made even more special thanks to the incredible support from our vendors and presenters, and we had many opportunities for networking and meeting new people.

Looking ahead, we are excited about the upcoming conference in September 2025 and are hopeful for strong attendance from all chapters. We are also planning a meeting for early May as we work to get back into the rhythm of regular meetings and educational events. Our goal is to host these meetings across various regions within the Delta Chapter, and we invite members who are interested in hosting a meeting in their area or hospital to share their ideas with us.

We sincerely appreciate the continued support of our members and look forward to seeing everyone soon. If you need assistance or have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to your chapter representatives.

President: Kim Hunt
Vice President: Lyn Macadangdang
Secretary/Treasurer: Teresa Riedrer
Education & Chapter Representative: Tamiza Samji

In December 2024, Lystra Shah resigned from the ETA Chapter Executive. This vacancy has prompted the chapter executives to change positions, leaving the Secretary/Treasurer position vacant. A nomination form has been sent out for members to nominate their candidate. Members should send completed forms to the MDRAO office.

MDRAO ETA Chapter executives organized an early dinner and networking event on January 25, 2025. We had positive responses as soon as the invites were sent and about 30 members joined the gathering. Jonathan Laceda, in charge of education from Pentax, answered a few questions from members about flexible scopes. Ryan Acayan also attended. Members enjoyed karaoke, singing along their favorite tunes. The event ended late in the evening with satisfied members.

ETA executives are hoping to organize another event, such as a vendor site visit.

Lambda chapter was delighted to hold a long-awaited education day in Thunder Bay in September 2024! I feel we had a great turn out. It was great to see support through vendors and local community businesses.

We are looking forward to the conference in September 2025! Our goal will be to try to help as many Lambda members attend as possible!

We know meetings have been very scarce, but we look forward to getting back on schedule. It's hard to pinpoint a convenient time for board members and chapter members who are working shift work! Please look for an email poll coming soon find the best time for as many members as possible to attend a chapter meeting.

At the heart of our Sigma Chapter’s success is the belief in the power of sharing ideas and fostering connections. One recent example highlights how collaboration between colleagues from different hospitals can lead to innovative solutions and remarkable improvements in patient care.

Two of our members—one from Hospital A and another from Hospital B—had the chance to connect through our community, and what followed was a perfect example of how knowledge sharing can transform practice. During their conversation, Colleague 1 mentioned her ongoing efforts to streamline the preference card system at her hospital. Colleague 2, who had worked with the same system at her own hospital, shared a valuable piece of insight: her preference card system had the capability to print with locations for each item listed.

Before this conversation, Colleague 1 had struggled to get traction and support for this feature. She was beginning to give up hope that it was possible with the existing system. However, Colleague 2 was able to share specifics and connect her with subject matter experts. Colleague 1 then was able to advocate for and implement this functionality at her hospital. The result? A more efficient process that improved workflow, enhanced accuracy, and contributed to overall better outcomes for both the clinical team and the patients.

This exchange exemplifies the power of the MDRAO community and the remarkable impact that can come from simply sharing ideas. Without this opportunity for cross- hospital collaboration, Colleague 1 might never have succeeded in implementing this crucial feature of the system, and her hospital would have missed out on an improvement that has since made a tangible difference.

As we continue to build a strong and connected community of healthcare professionals, let us remember that even the smallest piece of shared knowledge can spark transformative change. We encourage all members to actively engage, exchange ideas, and continue fostering connections that drive innovation and excellence in healthcare.

Let’s continue to support one another and share the wealth of knowledge within MDRAO to ensure that together, we can achieve great things.

Stay connected. Stay inspired.
