The Trump administration has delayed a decision to put trade restrictions on imported steel, including tin plate steel used to make cans. Trump and his Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross had earlier this year said they would complete a plan to reduce steel imports in the name of "national security" by the end of June. However the decision has been stalled amid objections from trading partners, numerous domestic steel users and some of Trump’s own aides and cabinet members. CLFP is participating in a nationwide coalition opposing any new trade actions against imported tin plate steel.
