Significant Opposition to Proposed Trade Tariffs

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has received approximately 1,000 comments on the Trump Administration’s proposed tariffs on imports from China, most of them in opposition. A number of agricultural groups have been very active regarding this issue and are concerned with potential retaliatory tariffs by China. USTR has received so many requests to testify at its May 15th hearing on this topic that it may have to schedule additional days to accommodate all the testimony.
