Summer Readiness and Flex Alerts

Even though it’s August, there is still plenty of hot weather ahead, which means the California Independent System Operator's (ISO) summer readiness and flex alerts are still timely.
The California ISO is forecasting tight energy supplies during high-use times in the summer of 2018, especially during the evening hours of hot days. While the likelihood of system-wide power outages is low, the ISO is asking for consumers to help during times of grid stress by answering the flex alert call to conservation. When consumers conserve at critical times, operators can better balance the grid and prevent more dire emergencies, including widespread power outages.
