Food Producers Workshop

A Food Producer Workshop will be held in Fresno June 25 to discuss funding programs available to the industry, including Food Producer Incentive Program (FPIP) grants and Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) incentive programs. In anticipation of significant changes to the FPIP eligibility requirements, CLFP companies not subject to the Cap-and-Trade regulation may see opportunities for winning a project funding grant increase. The workshop also will include upcoming changes in industrial and ag rates, on-bill financing, time of use and other issues.
The workshop is being co-sponsored by CLFP, PG&E and the California Energy Commission (CEC). It will be held at Fresno County Farm Bureau from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm.
The event also will feature a number of third-party tech companies, providing an opportunity to evaluate or discuss potential projects for your facility with companies that have already successfully obtained project funding and offer technologies that are eligible under either Tier 1 or Tier 2 of FPIP.

FPIP will see some changes to the guidelines that may improve the application process for CLFP members not subject to cap-and-trade. Additionally, CEC has plans to add two deadlines for project applications to aid food processors who need more time to complete the application and gather all the necessary documentation or matching funds. The normal deadline will still be three months from the date the CEC opens the solicitation. The second deadline will extend out an additional two months for companies that need the extra time. The second deadline will be subject to the availability of remaining funding after the first deadline closes and project awards are announced.
Strategic Energy Management (SEM) is being considered for a second round. CEC appears likely to include SEM as an eligible matching fund for companies already participating in the SEM program who apply for FPIP Project funding.
