CLFP co-sponsored a comprehensive energy efficiency workshop on August 8 in Downey with SoCalGas, Southern California Edison and the California Energy Commission. The workshop was attended by over 45 processors, including southern California food processors.

The workshop, held in advance of the current Food Production investment (FPIP) solicitation date, focused on industrial energy efficiency through rebates, the industrial Strategic Energy Management (SEM) Program and grants. Currently, the FPIP grant program has approximately $74 million available in grant funds for food processors eyeing projects to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. The SEM program is designed to help eligible customers with the organizational, technical and financial support needed to reduce energy through improvement of operations and maintenance practices.

This was the second workshop co-sponsored by CLFP.  To date, five CLFP member food processors have been awarded over $12 million in grant funding for FPIP projects.
