CLFP 2024 Annual Board Meeting

CLFP's Annual Board Meeting boasted an impressive lineup of speakers, each offering invaluable perspectives on critical issues facing the industry. Among the notable speakers were Kyle Griffith from BCFS Public Affairs, who delved into the intricacies of the "Fix PAGA Campaign," shedding light on its implications for food producers. Marty Wilson of the California Chamber of Commerce provided attendees with a comprehensive overview of the "2024 Election Outlook," offering valuable insights into the political landscape shaping the industry's future.

Benjamin Ebbink from FP Advocacy, Margie Lie from Samson Advisors, and representatives from CLFP, Katie Little & Trudi Hughes, shared crucial updates on legislative and regulatory developments impacting food production in California. Additionally, Krissi McIlvenna of CLFP highlighted the organization's commitment to education through its Scholarship Program, underscoring the importance of nurturing the next generation of industry leaders. In line with CLFP's commitment to innovation and sustainability, Clayton Yeko of Scale Microgrids presented on "Microgrids: Resilient Solutions for Rising Electric Rates," emphasizing the role of technology in addressing industry challenges. Furthermore, Megan Somogyi & Christopher Marelich from Downey Brand provided attendees with a comprehensive update on the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), offering insights into the evolving energy landscape and its implications for food producers.

The Audit Committee welcomed Dan Green (Los Gatos Tomato Products), Frank Mecozzi (Del Mar Food Products Corp.), and Jim Lipman (California Olive Ranch), embodying CLFP's commitment to transparency and accountability. Furthermore, Krissi McIlvenna was appointed as CLFP Treasurer, and Halle McIlvenna assumed the role of CLFP Secretary, underscoring the organization's dedication to effective leadership and governance.

In addition to the key appointments previously mentioned, significant officer transitions took place. Melvin Ward of Sunsweet Growers, Inc. has assumed the role of Chair, succeeding retiree Mike Smyth of Olam Food Ingredients. Mona Shulman of Pacific Coast Producers stepped into the position of 1st Vice Chair, succeeding Melvin Ward, while David Kiehn of Campbell Soup Company took on the role of 2nd Vice Chair, succeeding Mona Shulman. Jim Lipman of California Olive Ranch remains in the position of Past Chair. These appointments mark a pivotal moment in CLFP's leadership structure, reflecting a commitment to diversity of expertise and ensuring continuity in strategic vision and direction.
