Friday, August 31, 2012 marked the end of the 2011-2012 Legislative Session. All bills had to be acted on by midnight before the final gavel went down.
Thousands of bills were ushered through the process and received their final votes on the Assembly and Senate Floors this last week. The CLFP staff worked hard to proactively push for the passage of important measures regarding AB 32 Cap and Trade allowances and State and Regional Water Board reform. In addition, CLFP staff worked to stop the passage of bills that would increase energy rates and create screening tools to identify "disadvantaged communities" which could result in more regulatory burdens and exposure to liability for companies doing business in these communities. A full recap of the legislative session will be in the next issue of In the View.
