The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has developed a drought resources web page that is intended to be a central location for information about the drought situation and government programs available for farmers. The website, which is also available in Spanish, is located at www.cdfa.ca.gov/drought. The website includes news updates, plus links to the USDA’s Risk Management Agency, Farm Services Agency and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). All of these agencies have programs that could be of assistance to farmers affected by the drought, and the USDA has announced $20 million in special funding will be available to California farmers for water conservation programs through the NRCS Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQUIP). Current information about drought conditions can be obtained on the website of the California Department of Water Resources at www.water.ca.gov/waterconditions.
