Food Processing Expo 2016 in Sacramento to Feature Food Industry Expert Phil Lempert and FSMA Workshop

Food Processing Expo 2016 will include a dynamic array of topical food industry workshops, educational sessions and speakers, along with an expansive trade show featuring more than 250 exhibitors. The Expo will be held Feb. 17-18, 2016, at the Sacramento Convention Center in Sacramento, Calif.

Food Industry Expert Phil Lempert will be the featured speaker at the Expo kick-off breakfast on Feb. 17 and will address "How Consumers and Retailers Are Changing the Food World: The Battle for the American Meal." Lempert ‘s many food industry accomplishments include founding the SupermarketGuru.com website in 1994, which is now one of the leading food and health resource web sites.

A Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) workshop will be held on Feb. 18.  FSMA was signed into law on Jan. 4, 2011, and according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, is ushering in the most sweeping reforms of food safety laws in more than 70 years and will help produce farmers and food importers take steps to prevent food safety problems before they occur.

The Food Processing Expo is California’s largest tradeshow devoted exclusively to food processing and is sponsored each year by the California League of Food Processors (CLFP). Food Processing Expo 2016 also will include a Tasting Pavilion featuring CLFP member food products and those from invited universities and a reception and silent auction to raise funds for CLFP’s Scholarship Program. The scholarship event is hosted by CLFP's Supplier Host Council. In addition, a Tomato Processing School will be held the day prior to the Expo on Feb. 16.
