Recently the U.S. Food and Drug Administration released a proposed rule to establish additional traceability recordkeeping requirements for certain foods. The rule, referred to as the Food Traceability proposed rule, is a key component of the FDA’s New Era of Smarter Food Safety Blueprint and would implement Section 204(d) of the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). To assist stakeholders in understanding this new proposal, the FDA is making a number of additional resources available.

Thanksgiving celebrations will look different for many Americans this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Gatherings are likely to be fewer and farther between, with social distancing and perhaps even remote family get-togethers. One tradition that continues this year is the American Farm Bureau Federation’s annual cost survey of classic items found on the Thanksgiving Day dinner table.

The 2020 California legislative elections resulted in the Democrats in both the Assembly and Senate retaining their supermajority giving them the two-thirds voting threshold, which allows them to pass most legislation without Republicans. Democrats are currently awaiting final election results in two races that, if won, could mean historic gains in the state Senate which would increase their supermajority. Senate Democrats picked up two seats that had been held by Republicans. If they prevail in one additional race, the party will have 32 of the 40 seats in the upper house, which would be the most Democrats in the state Senate since 1883.

Sacramento, CA – The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) today announced $80 million in tax credits that are projected to create 6,535 new, full-time jobs in California. The funding, from the California Competes Tax Credit, will bring more than $400 million in new investments across the state.
