By now, the benefits of having a diverse workforce are well known — a 19 percentage point higher average innovation revenue being just one of them. To assess how companies are doing with their diversity efforts, Forbes once again partnered with Statista to survey their employees. The 2021 survey involved 50,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees. Astronauts on the International Space Station recently enjoyed a fresh supply of leafy greens, thanks in large part to the efforts of Expedition 64 crew member Michael Hopkins.
NASA’s SpaceX Crew-1 mission commander took the lead on conducting four Vegetable Production System (Veggie) experiments, with the last two wrapping up after an April 13 harvest. VEG-03K and VEG-03L tested a new space crop, "Amara" mustard, and a previously grown crop, "Extra Dwarf" pak choi. They were grown for 64 days, the longest leafy greens have grown on station.

What do you get when you combine Food Processing's Top 100 Food & Beverage Companies list and our annual Influential Women in Manufacturing list? You get TIME's Inaugural Most Influential Companies in the World list. We're kidding, of course, but the media brand known for its annual Person of the Year coverage is launching its first-ever Most Influential Companies in the World list.
And on that list this year are two alternative protein companies that are no strangers to Food Processing: Oatly and Beyond Meat.
The media brand solicited nominations from its global network of editors and correspondents, as well as from industry experts. Companies were then evaluated on factors such as relevance, impact, innovation, leadership, ambition and success.

CLFP continues its webinar series with the next webinar focusing on issues related to ag exports and the ports. Over the past year, the American economy, and particularly the agriculture sector has grappled with widespread delays, bottlenecks and increasing fees at our ports. This originated with the COVID pandemic, and is expected to continue for the foreseeable future. With more than 20% of U.S. agricultural production aimed for export, reaching foreign markets is essential to American producers and the viability of our agricultural sector at large. Peter Friedmann, executive director of the Agriculture Transportation Coalition, is recognized and frequently quoted as fierce advocate for agriculture’s international transportation interests, in Washington, DC and nationwide. He will address ongoing challenges facing food processors, with particular focus on exporting and importing through the California ports upon which our food processors depend.
