CLFP made a prominent appearance at Sacramento's Ag Day on March 19th, with a dedicated booth manned by Director of Government Affairs, Katie Little. Little represented our organization, emphasizing our crucial legislative relations with the Capitol. As the liaison between CLFP and policymakers, she engaged with attendees and Capitol personnel alike, discussing the organization's advocacy efforts and the importance of supporting policies conducive to a thriving food production industry.

 

Additionally, Trudi Hughes, President of CLFP, was on-site, adding a personal touch by connecting faces to names and supporting Little in amplifying CLFP's presence at the event. It was a beautiful, sunny day, and CLFP was happy to show face and engage with those both familar and unfamilar with our purpose!

 

Next week, at the April 17 hearing, the State Water Resources Control Board (Board) will consider adopting a lower Maximum Contaminant Level for Hexavalent Chromium and plans to certify the accompanying final Environmental Impact Report. Hexavalent chromium (Chrom-6) occurs naturally in water supplies across the state at levels that often exceed the proposed drinking water standard. CLFP, along with many fellow industrial and agricultural stakeholders, have opposed this lower proposed standard as it has no scientific basis and carries an astronomical price tag to our members – and ultimately consumers.
