Key representatives from our member companies including James Sherwood (The Morning Star Company), John Schneider (Stanislaus Food Products), Sarah Doran (Kraft/Heinz), Thomas Maulhardt (Campbell's), Mona Shulman (Pacific Coast Producers), and Beverly Kennedy (Pacific Coast Producers) participated in discussions. Katie Little, CLFP’s Director of Government Affairs, led the delegation with CLFP’s lobbyists Anthony Samson, Margie Lie, and Ben Ebbink.

The group met with legislative and industry leaders, including State Senator Ben Allen (D-Santa Monica), Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel (D-Encino), Assemblymember James Gallagher (R-Yuba City), and Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks), as well as Zoe Heller, newly appointed Director of CalRecycle, to discuss various legislative measures impacting the food production industry. Specifically, the group highlighted pertinent legislation including SB 1231 (Allen), AB 2716 (Hart), and AB 2613 (Gabriel). Adam Regele, Vice President of Advocacy and Strategic Partnerships from CalChamber, also spoke to the group on our combined efforts on the recent SB 54 rulemaking.

We thank our members for their participation and look forward to next year’s event! Please contact Katie Little for more information. (katie@clfp.com).

Public Policy
As many members may recall, last year the California Air Resources Board (CARB) announced that there would be amendments made to the Cap-and-Trade Regulation this year. CARB has held a few workshops on the issue and also released a Standardized Regulatory Impact Assessment (SRIA) in April. While the SRIA is not a formal regulatory proposal, it describes CARB's preliminary proposed amendments to the Cap-and-Trade Program regulations, which are aimed to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 48 percent below 1990 levels by 2030 by removing 264 million allowances from the program from 2025 to 2030.
