On July 1, Governor Gavin Newsom signed the groundbreaking legislation that would provide significant reform to California Private Attorneys’ General Act – also known as PAGA – and offer much-needed relief to employers. The bill, AB 2288 by Assemblymember Kalra (D – San Jose), will remove limitations on the types of employees who could bring claims, give employers a better chance to cure mistakes, reduce possible penalties, and boost procedural mechanisms that would reduce claims in court.
