Capitol News
The 2023-2024 Legislative session came to a close on August 31. The last week of session held a lot of excitement and contention with bills being introduced at the last minute (Wednesday night) in order to meet the mandatory 72-hour print rule. As readers may recall, voters passed Proposition 54 in 2016 requiring bills to be in print for at least 72 hours before they can be voted on or moved in the legislative process. This Proposition was introduced due to many bills being pushed through the legislative process at the last minute without any time for public comment or review.
