Management of Achilles and Patellar Tendinopathy: What We Know

Tendinopathies are challenging conditions frequent in athletes and in middle-aged overweight patients with no history of increased physical activity. The term “tendinopathy” refers to a clinical condition characterised by pain, swelling, and functional limitations of tendons and nearby structures, the effect of chronic failure of healing response.

 
Studies Note Increase In Amputations After Arrival Of COVID-19 Pandemic

In a recently published study in the Annals of Vascular Surgery, researchers found a more than twofold increase in major amputations and the degree of tissue loss for vascular surgery patients after the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 in comparison to patients in similar time frames in 2019 and 2018.

 
New Approach to Improving Gait of Children with CP

Ben Conner, a third-year MD/PhD student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, is studying a robotic walking therapy for children with cerebral palsy (CP). His research is part of an interdisciplinary team housed at Northern Arizona University’s Biomechatronics Lab.

 
Frontal Plane Rotation of the First Ray in Hallux Valgus using Standing CT

The purpose of the present study was to analyze the difference in frontal plane rotation of the entire first ray in patients with and without hallux valgus using standing weightbearing computed tomography (CT). 10 feet of 10 patients with hallux valgus and 36 feet of 36 patients without hallux valgus were examined.
