Disappearing nail bed is a diagnosis you have most likely never heard of but you see it in practice on almost a daily basis. It describes the entity in which long-standing onycholysis causes the nail bed to convert to digital skin, which ultimately results in nail plate shortening in comparison to the contralateral side due to lack of nail bed-nail plate attachment. The shortened nail will only grow so far distally and seem to stop, or it will abut the distal skin that becomes hypertrophied and deformed.

The current technology used to monitor an athlete’s performance ranges from small wearable fitness trackers to elaborate clinical monitoring equipment. Fitness trackers are compact and lightweight but can only collect data from a single point, which is insufficient to generate meaningful insights. Clinical monitoring equipment uses multiple sensors to capture data from various points on the athlete’s body but is mired in tangles of wires and is too bulky to be used outdoors. 

The leg muscles are important for balance, posture, and movement during static and dynamic activity. Obtaining cross-sectional area measurements (CSA) of the leg muscles helps researchers understand the health and force production capability of individual leg muscles. Therefore, having an easy to use and readily available method to assess leg muscle CSA is needed. 

At the end of 2019, China Government reported a cluster of cases of pneumonia in people associated with the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in Wuhan, Hubei Province. On January 7, 2020, Chinese health authorities confirmed that these cases were due to a novel coronavirus, called 2019-nCoV, able to a person-to-person transmission. In the following weeks slightly less than 10 similar cases had been reported in 21 countries. 

It’s estimated that 20 million people in the United States experience some kind of peripheral neuropathy. Sometimes the damage is limited to a single nerve, but most often the condition affects groups of nerves.

A ganglion cyst is a noncancerous lump filled with a jelly-like fluid. These cysts are generally harmless, though they can be uncomfortable, particularly when they form on the foot.
