Over the past eight years, I have found the foot and ankle community's reluctance to adapt to the evidence-based paradigm shift in treating chronic refractory plantar fasciitis (CRPF) perplexing. Fortunately, we generally see that most plantar fasciitis patients do not require surgery. Thus, the limited number of surgical procedures for this condition provides some context to the continued use of plantar fasciotomies.

Resistance training (RT) is a popular mode of physical exercise often associated with voluntary muscle contraction against an external load, and its regular practice has been advised as an essential part of physical conditioning programs. RT benefits are often associated with improvements in the musculoskeletal system such as increased muscle strength and hypertrophy, improved bone health, reduced low-back pain, and better functionality.

High plantar pressures are associated with increased foot ulcer risk in people with diabetes. Identification of high plantar pressures in people with diabetes is clinically challenging due to time and cost constraints of plantar pressure testing. Factors affecting foot biomechanics, including reduced joint range of motion and foot deformity, are implicated in the development of high plantar pressures and may provide a method to clinically identify those at risk of pressure related complications.

This study supports evidence regarding the effects of facial skin hair on the fit factor of surgical masks and filtering respirators in healthcare providers. The fit factor of surgical masks does not seem to be modified by the presence of facial hair, showing a low fit factor in both bearded and non-bearded healthcare providers. In contrast, the use of filtering respirators in conjunction with the presence of facial hair impairs their fit factor.
