Volunteer Spotlight
Spotlight Award Winner Spotlight Award Winner - Sarah Piggott, CMP (MarComm Committee) "Before I was association manager for MPI-CAC, I got a membership grant from the chapter and ‘had’ to get involved. I joined the Leadership Development Committee to start engaging in the meeting industry community. I say ‘had’ because when you receive a membership grant, one of the requirements is that you need to join a committee and get involved. Getting involved is one of the best things you can do for your career. Even if you don't have a membership grant, I would suggest getting involved.” Editor’s Note: Formerly known as Engaged Member of the Month, the Spotlight Award honors committee members who have really been an all-star on their committee. Volunteer: Join a committee The best way to get the most out of your MPI-CAC membership is by joining a committee. It’s a great way to network, utilize your skills or challenge yourself to try something new! We know everyone has busy schedules, but many of our committees have a variety of tasks that can be done in just one hour a month! Committees are always looking for members with leadership skills, creative mindsets and the drive to collaborate with fellow industry professionals. Committee members have the tasks of connecting and networking with a wide range of speakers to see if they would be the best candidate to fulfill the meeting objectives and purpose. They also review and grade submissions resulting from the call for speaker proposals. What makes your committee fun or stand out? What makes our committee stand out is that we all have diverse backgrounds and have the ability to be accepting and transparent with all ideas and visions that come to mind while designing, organizing and sustaining a balanced program of events in compliance with MPI HQ.
