FREE UPCOMING WEBINAR: HOARDING TREATMENT: OPTIONS AND OUTCOMES FOR OLDER ADULTS 10 AM PT | 11 AM MT | 12 PM CT | 1 PM ET
Hoarding disorder was added to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) in 2013, but because the clinical recognition of hoarding disorder is relatively new, few healthcare professionals have extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of hoarding disorder. Additionally, hoarding disorder is a challenging mental health issue, particularly in older adults who hoard.
PARTICIPANTS IN THIS WEB SEMINAR WILL BE ABLE TO:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the features and treatment of hoarding disorder.
- Utilize and implement five techniques when interacting with an older adult presenting with hoarding disorder.
- Apply the DSM criteria for hoarding disorder and demonstrate knowledge of the characteristics uniquely associated with hoarding disorder.
Catherine Ayers, PhD, ABPP, is a Section Chief at the VA San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS) La Jolla Mental Health Outpatient Clinics, Professor in the University of California San Diego Department of Psychiatry, Director of the CREST Community Program for older adults with hoarding, and faculty member in the San Diego State University Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. Her research is focused on treatment outcomes for the obsessive compulsive spectrum and related disorders.
